Tumševica, Anitra: La corde

Basic information

Notes

  • Program notes:

Musicologist Santa Bušs about la corde: "In her piece la corde, Tumševica refers to the wealth of Dutch polyphonic traditions and the expounding of one theme in various tempos, and to stylized Georgian chants. The structure of la corde (the string) brings to life a concept of maximally decelerated pizzicato on the contrabass. It is marked by a metallic recoil, followed by powerful string vibrations and a metallic ringing, and finally the basic tone of the string—a low, juicy sound accompanied by vibrations and a quiet echo."
