Notes

  • Program notes:

In the form of a rubaiyat, this Persian lullaby recounts the loss of a lover and what remains in the shadow of loss. The text is presented in three decelerating iterations, bookended by
ethereal, gentle humming. The first presentation is a hushed and fragile recount of this loss, the sighing leaps in the melodic structure emphasized by limping, hollow unisons and delicate, breathy outpourings. The second offers a warmer, partial harmonization of various stressed and unstressed syllables. The last becomes timbrally and harmonically full, a raw, elegiac declaration which descends into a muted and muddled finish, wandering, humming, soothing.

  • Technical specs:

-minimum of 2 voices per part
