Zheng, Yang 




Zheng Yang was born in 1988 and raised in a musical family. He enrolled in the Composition Department at the Central Conservatory of Music in 2006. Later, he was recommended for admission into the master’s program without examination. While a student at the Central Conservatory, his primary teacher was well-known Chinese composer Qin Wenchen. Currently, Zheng is teaching at the People's Liberation Army Arts College in Beijing.
Zheng has won prizes in many kinds of composition competitions, including the “Chinese Composer Commission from the Barlow Endowment for Music Composition” competition in 2014, "The Chinese Ministry of Culture Symphony Composition Competition," the "Palatino Awards," and the “China Arts College Composition Competition.”
Zheng has received commissions from many musical organizations, including the Barlow Endowment, 2010 Encounters International Music Festival in Australia, the Warsaw Autumn International Music Festival in Poland, and the Beijing Modern Music Festival. Zheng’s works have been performed by the China National Symphony Orchestra, the Beijing Symphony Orchestra, The Central Nationalities Orchestra, and the EOS Orchestra. Some of them have also been published in China by important publishers such as the People’s Music Publishing House.
