Biography

Described as a “rising star” by MusicWorks magazine, Canadian-American composer
Jared Miller’s eclectic music is “playful” (New York Times), “hypnotic” (Sequenza
21) and “highly personal” (CBC Radio.) Still in his twenties, he has worked in
collaboration with many ensembles both in North America and internationally
including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, American Composers Orchestra, the
symphony orchestras of Vancouver, Toronto and Edmonton, the Victoria Symphony,
the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, The Attacca Quartet, the New York City Ballet’s
Choreographic Institute, the Emily Carr String Quartet and Standing Wave. His
music has been featured in the New York Philharmonic’s Biennial (2014), Music on
Main’s Modulus Festival (2014) and Vancouver’s Queer Arts Festival (2010 and
2015.) Miller holds Masters and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the Juilliard
School where he studied with Samuel Adler and John Corigliano. From 2014-2017,
Miller was the composer-in-residence for the Victoria Symphony.
