Biography

Dan Dediu (b. 1967, Brăila) graduated composition at the Music University in Bucharest (1989) and attended post-graduate courses at HMdK in Vienna (1990/91), studying with Ștefan Niculescu, Dan Constantinescu and Francis Burt. Dediu has often served as artistic director of the International Week of New Music in Bucharest (between 1999-2019). He is founder and Artistic Director of PROFIL-Sinfonietta and composition professor at the National University of Music in Bucharest, where he was rector between 2008-2016. His over 160 compositions are worldwide performed, covering all genres. He received prizes and awards for composition in Vienna, London, Paris, Berlin, Budapest, Bucharest, Dresden, Ludwigshafen.
