About The 2007 New Music Miami Iscm Festival

The 2007 festival of contemporary cutting edge music continues to build on the success of previous festivals and will focus on music for winds and percussion as well as several solo recitals presented by some of the most exciting performers of contemporary music. Performances by such varied musicians as the Barton Workshop (Holland), the Paris based piano and percussion Duo Thierry Mirroglio - Ancuza Aprodu, the FIU NODUS Ensemble, the FIU Wind Ensemble and guest soloists flutist Alejandro Escuer from Mexico, virtuoso bass clarinetist Evan Ziporyn, South Florida based pianist Jennifer Snyder, virtuoso cellist Craig Hultgren, former New World Symphony Orchestra trombonist Mark Hetzler, and New York based pianist Cristina Valdes will be showcased. This year's festival will include more than 30 renowned guest composers and performers participating in the event to be held April 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15, 2007 at FIU's Wertheim Performing Arts Center, the Steinway Piano Hall and Miami Art Central in Coral Gables, and the Wolfsonian on Miami Beach. Six concerts and several pre-concert Meet the Composer sessions will be presented over the 5 days including over 30 South Florida premieres and several world premieres.
