Elżbieta Sikora, Pięć miniatur na orkiestrę (Five Miniatures for orchestra) – description:

I refer in Five Miniatures for orchestra (2013) to the five-piece cyclic form in which each part makes a separate whole.
Beginning with a gentle rustle of the strings, the sonoric Part One in the form of a tensioning bow culminates with vanishing short notes to make a sudden stop at a unison of strings, broken by the sound of the trumpet played fortissimo.
The Second Part is a series of sharp tutti chords, followed by trails, like constantly changing afterimages or shadows.
Part Three develops slowly, making the imagined spaces wider and wider. The final fragment introduces cumulative anxiety.
In the Fourth Part I used the b-a-c-h motif in various forms and configurations.
The last part is a display of the orchestra's rhythmic skills. I develop in it the idea of rhythmic ostinato, broken by sharp entries of different instruments, played individually or in groups.
