    About a year ago I wrote the composition "couler ..." for clarinet and live electronics for Christian Wettin, the clarinet player of the trio Sostenuto, which was premiered on the evening of November 13, 2015 in Toulouse. The concert started around 8:30 pm. "Couler ..." was listed as the last piece of the evening. Almost at the same time as the premiere, the first detonation of the Paris attacks took place in the Stade de France.
    stesso: at the same time, at the same time, despite everything, the same ... - the Italian word stesso has many different levels of meaning. It thus creates a whole series of chains of associations that remain closed to music in its abstractness. Only as a title succeeds the word, for a brief moment, to affect the music. Inside the music, which speaks only for itself, which needs no explanation and only follows its own logic, all those semantic levels of meaning evaporate. As music, this alone remains self-referential and strangely untouched by all the cognitive constructions.
    "... stesso ..." is based on the one year older composition "couler ...". The clarinet part was taken over unchanged. But while "couler ..." mainly used small time differences between the clarinet and the live electronics, in order to bring about a fragmentation of the clarinet sound into the room, in "... stesso ..." the electronics are now completely missing , Cello and piano take over the counterpart to the clarinet. They form the acoustic space for the clarinet solo. But their attempt to make this space synchronous with the clarinet part inevitably fails because of the rhythmic complexity of the score. What emerges is an irresistible sound space, which gradually expands into a polyphonic network of three instruments.
