Notes

  • Program notes:

Five Elements contains five miniatures for solo piano written for young players as a gateway to contemporary classical music. Each piece draws inspiration from Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth respectively. Using distinct register and tonality, and employing techniques such as tone clusters and instrument tapping, these pieces explore sonic possibilities of the piano while reflecting characteristics of the five elements. The miniatures are independent pieces of different difficulty levels. They can be performed individually or as a set in any preferred order.
