    Concerto for flute and orchestra
    by Calin Ioachimescu

    PROGRAM NOTES

Concerto for Flute and Orchestra composed in 2012, is a work thought as a succession of sequences and remnants models, being a result of the composer's long cohabitation with the music (especially the preferred ones) as a musical director.
The sequences, linked through transitions areas, have contrasting characters, combining types of dynamic, rhythmic writing (tempo giusto) with static, melancholic, even elegiac melodic surfaces. Everything is cumulating in a strong climax. The presence of the solo flute fits in a symphonic texture, distributed somehow equally, as in a flauto obligato symphony. The orchestration brings color elements that support the virtuosity passages of the soloist who is playing with the timbre effects, highlighted by new instrumental techniques.
