Horvat, Ana: Pika's tale

Basic information

Notes

  • Program notes:

    Pika's tale
The title of this piece symbolically represents deliberation on the relationship between the notion of dot in visual arts and sound. In visual art, a dot (Slo. pika / Eng. dot) represents the smallest graphic symbol, a shape without any emphasized dimensions which is at the same time the basic visual and optical value. We can use a dot to build, we can vary and combine it with other dots. That is why a dot is an almost abstract, undefined shape which is also the basis, the starting point for all other visual shapes.
The initial sound in the electronics represent that dot from which the rest of the piece is made.
Composition is commissioned by the Music Biennale Zagreb (2013.).
