Notes

  • Program notes:

The composition is articulated in various episodes, each of which is characterized by the development of a precise instrumental articulation.
The cello, above all in the opening section, acts as a concertante instrument and opposes the other strings, whose rarefied writing is full of harmonic tones and sounds on the bridge. After that ther are more and more intensified sections that culminate in a vertical chord section that marks an important conclusion to the center of the composition.
The cello assumes newly a main position in the successive cantabile section that leads to the conclusion bringing back to the rarefied initial climate.
