Notes

  • Program notes:

Dream Compass was written in 2016.
Originally, it was intended to be a work for Mark Menzies, which was to be performed at REDCAT in Los Angeles.

Sections within the work repeat, but are subtly changed at each such successive occurrence creating a ‘sonic parallax’ that is intended to gradually reveal more about the sound object and its musical meaning to the listener. The work has several ideas, each of which are altered each time they return.
