A City tells a variety of stories, and all people interpret the stories in different ways based on their own personal experiences and observations. I, also, have been always interested in various sounds from different cities.
Urban Symphony, one of the series of my city project piece, is a musical representation of collected experiences from Seoul, where I live. Instead of focusing on grand landmarks, I chose to observe the sights and sounds from little mundane things happening in the city: the boisterous sounds from the place under construction; A quiet and peaceful wind-bell sound in a temple; the tuning of an orchestra at the beginning of an opera; a mysterious and fun echo effect on the subway. Each of these scenes presented itself as a musical moments to me. I wondered.. What does a city tell you, and what do you hear from a city?
