Bulsink, Wilbert: String Quartet

Basic information

Notes

  • Program notes:

This piece breaks into new, bigger spaces over and over again, mostly by getting stuck in something.

Two months into writing the piece I attended a lecture of a philosopher who spoke about the analogies between Deleuze and Guattari's ideas of capitalism as a force of deterritorialization, Naomi Klein's Shock Doctrine, and cybernetic theories from the early 20th century about intelligent machines. I saw some simularities between this piece and those ideas.

What will be audible in this string quartet is organic expansive development of material and sound, getting stuck and discovering new, bigger, emptier, more desolate spaces over and over again.

A walk into a landscape scattered with ruins.
