Notes

  • Program notes:

Gap Static is characterised by the recurrence of a single note, with different instrumental colour and harmony each time it occurs. The work takes a verse-chorus form, althought the drastically boiled-down nature of the melodic material means that this lyrical form acquires a somewhat absurd character. The musical style draws upon that of the Spectral school of composers. However, gaps are inserted into their typical gradual sound-morphs and transitions, creating 'dotted-line' rather than 'continuous-line' transitions.
