Presentation of Corvi by Sonia Bo
The title of the composition refers to Kurosawa’s movie, Dreams. This movie is built in eight
episodes and one of them indirectly quotes Wheatfield with Crows by Van Gogh. I had already
referred to that movie for the composition Dreams, that has to be developed in eight pieces. For the
project Dreams I have already written three pieces and Corvi (Crows) is the fourth.
As the movie, I imagined a visitor wandering in different landscapes: in Corvi, through pictures that
both juxtapose and contrast, various sound landscapes emerge, strictly connected by a tone colour
idea and by the structure. About the form the composition is constructed in a unique movement , but
the harmonic structure and the orchestration are thought to build different sections – bare sections
are followed by other ones very dense - and sometimes different melodic lines or virtuous
    fragments emerge.
