Notes

  • Program notes:

Vassilis Bakopoulos, a retired Chemical Engineer, entered the University of Thessaloniki- Section of Musical Studies, at the age of 64. He studied successfully musicology and, predominantly, composition with professor Christos Samaras and others.
In this symphonic work, the composer wishes to express the feelings of someone facing a life-threatening health situation.
As the work title implies, • the first part describes the despair he feels when he is overwhelmed by the problem, fighting though with all his means to resolve the situation. • the second part describes the serenity and happiness when the storm is over, and the treatment of the sickness seems successful. • the third part describes the worry of the problem recurrence possibility, mixed with great hope that such situation will never come back. And, life goes on, as expressed by the arpeggiated strings fade out at the end.
Three periods in life, three parts of the work in sequence without pause, same way difficulties come and go in life.
