  • Program notes: 

    The form of this piece is based on the general idea of a continuum or sound stream,
    which is roundly builded by the addition of the different cello strings.
    The initial gesture starts to build a whole structure in which the direction is purely
    circular.
    The electronics are conceived in order to merge together with the instrument and create
    a perfect symbiosis between the two of them. The artificial resonances are intended to
    extend the sounds of the cello and leave place to a “methainstrument”.
    All the samples used in the electronic part come from real cello recordings, transformed
    by a wide range of techniques such as granular synthesis, filters, stretching, resonators,
    etc.

    Technical requirements:
    1. Macintosh or PC computer equipped with an audio interface
    compatible with Max/MSP (e.g. Motu 828mkII; Motu 896; Digidesign
    DIGI002; RME sound-card) to run a patch including stereo hard disk
    playback of sound-files.
    2. Channels disposition (see the score).
    3. Stereo amplification of the violoncello (channels 1 & 2.)
    *the violoncello must be amplified through the loudspeakers placed
    facing outward the audience.
