Notes

  • Program notes:

Study no.4 is the result of a software transformation of Bach’s Cello Suite No.4, in E-flat major. A sound recording of the selected motives and sections from each movement of the suite was manipulated in such a way as to render the resulting material reminiscent of slow, ambient and colouristic music, such as that of William Basinski, Pauline Oliveros and Brian Eno. This kind of transformed Bach then became the basis for the viola part, which spontaneously arose from the selected motivic content, using it in a free, improvisatory and heterophonic manner. Study No.4 was commissioned the by the violist Saša Mirković and premiered in The City Assembly of Belgrade in October 2016.
