Biography

Born in 1971 in Warsaw, Maciej Zieliński is one of the most outstanding Polish composers of his generation. His compositions are well known for their expressiveness, textural and formal invention, and individual postmodern approach. He studied composition with Marian Borkowski at the Frederic Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw and with Paul Patterson at the Royal Academy of Music in London.He is an award winner at 8 musical contests in Poland, UK, Germany, and Czech Republic. His works have been featured in many major international festivals. In 2012 he was nominated for ‘Fryderyk 2012’ Award in the category "Composer of the Year" (distinguish co-­‐ nominees: Krzysztof Penderecki and Wojciech Kilar).
In 2013 he was elected deputy president of the Polish Composers’ Union.
