Biography

Dirk Veulemans attended in 1987-88 the year seminary of Electronic Music Composition at the Conservatory in Antwerp given by Joris de Laet. Since then he has coöperated with various ensembles and artistic groups. Also he composed for manifstations in Belgium and abroad. His broad musical interest goes from ethnic to the newest contemporary music.
His own work mainly consists in electro-acoustic compositions, aiming for a wealthy, diverse and specific sound palette. The computer and making algorithms have always been an important tool and language. The spaciousness and the agility of the sound are very important for him during the composition process as well as during the performance.
Dirk Veulemans (Ostend 1956) now lives in Kalmthout, Belgium.
