Biography

Eiko Tsukamoto was born in 1986 in Kagoshima, Japan. From 2005 to 2009 she studied philosophy
at Ochanomizu University in Tokyo and at the same time received private composition lessons from
Toshio Hosokawa. After completing her studies in philosophy in 2009, she came to Germany and
studied composition with Prof. Johannes Schöllhorn at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln
(Cologne). Since 2014 she continues her studies with Prof. Hanspeter Kyburz at the Hochschule für
Musik Hanns Eisler (Berlin). In September 2011 her orchestral work, commissioned by KölnMusik
for the 25th anniversary of the Kölner Philharmonie, was premiered by the Mahler Chamber
Orchestra and conducted by Sir Roger Norrington. Recent activities include commissions and
performances by WDR Köln, Ensemble Musikfabrik, Tongyeong International Music Festival and
New Japan Philharmonic.
