Biography

Péter Tornyai was born in 1987. He graduated in composition as student of Zoltán Jeney at Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest where he also studied violin. In 2013 he started his doctoral program at Liszt Academy, where he is also lecturer since 2015. In 2014 he was mentored by Péter Eötvös.
As violinist and violist he is one of the busiest chamber musicians of his generation in Hungary.
His pieces were performed by e.g. JACK Quartet, Stadler Quartet, UMZE, Wiener Kammerorchester, Hungarian Radio Symphonic Orchestra in many european countries, USA and New Zealand.
