Biography

Nicolae Teodoreanu, Composer and Ethnomusicologist, born in 1962, BA and Ph. D. at the Romanian Music University. He works as researcher at "C. Brăiloiu" Institute of Ethnography and Folklore in Bucharest and teaches musical disciplines at Romanian Music University. He has been granted more scholarships for composition and music research in Germany, Austria, Ireland and Romania. He is a member of the Romanian Union of Composers and Musicologists and of the International Society of Contemporary Music (SIMC). His creation includes vocal, instrumental, orchestral, and electronic music, performed and recorded on CDs in Romania, Germany, Austria and France. His articles on ethnomusicology and theory of music are published in various specialized reviews. In 2006 he was awarded the "George Enescu" Prize of the Romanian Academy.
His creation and ethnomusicological research represent an attempt to explore and revaluate the psycho-cultural foundations of music at both the musical stylistics and the psychoacoustical level.
