Biography

Tibor Szirovicza graduated in 2009 in composition and music theory in class of prof. Željko Brkanović with the composition "Shaula" for large symphony orchestra. He is a regular member of the Croatian Composers' Society. He attended seminars in Szombathely in Hungary with prof. Johannes Schöllhorn and regularly participated in collaborative projects of Zagreb Academy of Music and the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. As a composer, he makes music for various multimedia, film, dance and theater projects. In 2010/2011, together with academic sculptor Stipan Kujundzić he created multimedia installations, "Preslojavanje-Consuctio" and "Glazbala-Transphonia" that were represented in Croatia and abroad. In early 2011, his composition "Shaula" for large symphony orchestra was performed by Alun Francis and Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2012 composition "Birdsong" for flute and electronics was premiered at the Ascoli Piceno Festival in Italy (Sarah Rulli). In 2014 he collaborated with Cantus Ensemble and Dian Tchobanov - composition "In between" for oboe, chamber ensemble and electronics. He was awarded a stipend by "Rudolf and Margarita Matz" Fund - Croatian Composers' Society for young composers in 2011. Compositions "Birdsong" for flute and electronics and "In between" for oboe, chamber ensemble and electronics were awarded by Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia. Since 2013 he is a full member of the Croatian Society of Independent Artists. In 2014. he started new Festival of Contemporary Choral Music in Zagreb, whose first edition was held in September 2014.
