Strom, Kirsten 

 
 

 

Biography

Kirsten Strom is a young composer, conductor and creative writer. Her work has been performed internationally, commissioned, and aired on national radio. Her current interests include mixed media, work with a conscience and the complex beauty of nature. She was one of six chosen to attend the Royal Academy of Music, London for a Master of Music in Composition in 2019.

Kirsten was the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra Young Composer-in-Residence for 2018. She represented New Zealand in the 2018 Asian Composers League Festival, her work 'Moodscenes' was featured in Risuonanze Festival 2019, Italy and she was a Composer Fellow for Etchings Festival 2019, France, under esteemed composers Kaija Saariaho, Martin Brody, John Aylward and Francesco Filidei. Her work 'Ice' was selected for recording by the NZSO in 2019.
