Biography

Matej Sloboda (1988) is a Slovak composer, conductor and improviser dedicating himself mainly to contemporary music. He is studying composition with Ivan Buffa at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (Slovakia) and with Beat Furrer at the Univerity of Performing Arts in Graz (Austria). In 2012 he founded the chamber Ensemble Spectrum which, under his baton, presented works by Slovak and foreign composers at festivals such as Bach Tribute, Konfrontácie, Orfeus et al. He conducted the Slovak premieres of works by V. Bokes, J. Iršai, A. Pärt and world premieres of compositions by Ľ. Bernáth, P. Javorka, L. Roth, M. Tóth and others.
