Schnelzer, Albert

Biography

Albert Schnelzer (b. 1972) studied composition at the Malmö Academy of Music and at the master’s level at the Royal College of Music in London. His output includes some 50 orchestral, chamber and solo works; music that pulsates with feverish tension and vibrating rhythms. His music is outgoing and openly communicative, sometimes minimalistic, at times even dance-like, but there is also room for fragile and lyrically expressive moments.  Important works include the orchestral pieces as A Freak in Burbank which has received some 70 performances around the world, Tales from Suburbia, the Cello Concerto – Crazy Diamond, and the Oboe Concerto – The Enchanter. Another frequently performed piece is his piano solo work Dance with the Devil. He is at present working on his very first opera To Die at One’s Post to be premiered in July 2018.
