Biography

Filip Rathé (1966) graduated at the the Conservatoire of Ghent for piano and conducting. He studied composition with Lucien Goethals and acquired a Master Degree of musicology at the university of Ghent. He teaches contemporary music at the School of Arts Ghent. Since 1993 he is artistic leader of the SPECTRA Ensemble with which he premiered over 150 new compositions. He appeared as guest conductor of the Flemish Radio Choir, the Brussels Philharmonic and several contemporary music ensembles (a.o. Hermes-ensemble, Musiques Nouvelles). His compositions were performed a.o. by ASKO (N), Kremerata Baltica (Lit), Neue Vokalsolisten Stuttgart (D) and Exaudi (GB).
