Biography

Randolph Peters is a professional freelance composer. He has written operas; symphonies; choral, chamber, music for dance over one hundred film and television scores. His music has been performed around the world.

Peters has collaborated with authors such as Robertson Davies, Margaret Atwood, and Salman Rushdie, amongst others. His collaboration with the late Robertson Davies resulted in a new opera for the Canadian Opera Company entitled The Golden Ass.

As Composer-In-Residence with the Canadian Opera Company (1990-93), Peters was commissioned to write Nosferatu. Peters was also Composer-in-Residence of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (1996-2001). In addition to writing numerous works for the WSO, with Bramwell Tovey he helped program their annual New Music Festival.

After Mr. Peters obtained a degree in physics and religious studies from the University of Winnipeg, he pursued his masters and doctoral music composition studies at Indiana University under the direction of John Eaton.
