Peguševs, Aleksejs - M - Latvia 

 
 

 

Biography

Aleksejs Peguševs was born in Riga, Latvia in 1992. He studied composition at the Jazeps Vitols Latvian Music Academy (2010-2014) with professor Juris Karlsons and at the Norwegian Academy of Music (2012) with Asbjørn Schaatun. Currently Aleksejs is studying for his Master’s degree in Finland at the Sibelius Academy with Tapio Nevanlinna.
Aleksejs Pegusevs’ music focuses mainly on chamber music and vocal music, but covers a wide variety of genres. Recent projects include a commission from the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra and collaboration with one of the major theatres in Latvia. Aleksejs is also a pianist and improviser.
Aleksejs has received various awards at local and international composition competitions, the majority of which are for choral music. His works have been performed at various concerts and festivals in Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Germany.
