Biography

Gráinne Mulvey studied with Dr Eric Sweeney, Professor Hormoz Farhat and Dr. Augustin Fernandez and obtained a DPhil in Composition under Professor Nicola LeFanu at York University, England.

Her music has been performed and broadcast in Europe, America and Australia. Awards include the R.T.E. Young Musician of the Future and the St. John Memorial University, Newfoundland Composition Award. Her orchestral piece Akanos, was chosen for representation at ISCM World Music Days 2008, in Vilnius, Lithuania and it also featured at the 2009 Prague Premiers. She was also represented at the 2009 ISCM World Music Days with her choral piece Stabat Mater. She has been represented at the International Rostrum of Composers in 1994 and 2006 with her orchestral piece Scorched Earth.

Her music was released by the Black Box label in 1999 and she was recently elected to Aosdána, Ireland’s organisation of creative artists.
