Biography

Efi Markoulaki born in Athens, Greece in 1960.
Her studies in music include degrees in Piano and Composition and lessons in
music analysis, flute and instrumentation. She took part in some important seminars
of contemporary music in Greece and in Europe (with Toshio Hosokawa, Michael
Jarrell, Jonathan Harvey, George Apergis, Liza Lim, Enno Poppe etc).
Since 1998 she has taken part in concerts of contemporary music (by the
Orchestra of Colours twice, by the Hellenic Ensembles “Olympic Trio”, “Trio in
Vivo”, “Kelados”, “Hellenic Ensemble of Contemporary Music” etc) and famous
soloists like Michalis Kontaxakis-guitar, Theodora Baka-mezzosopran, Otilia Aliteiviolin,
Katrin Zenz-flute have played some compositions of her.
In addition she deals with theatre, poetry, radio and cinema, she has organised
many art projeckts and some books of her have publieshed, including “Piano–
Adventures”, pieces for students for two and four hands.
She is also a member of the Greek Composers Union since 2004.
