Biography

ANDREJ MAKOR (1987) from Slovenia. He graduated in music teaching, in solo singing and in music composition at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. He has also recieved a Prešeren Award for students of University of Ljubljana (Slovenia). Now he continue with master studies of music composition at the University of Padova (Italy).
Makor's compositions have been published in several collections edited by Carus Verlag, Astrum, Glasbena Matica and Nomos. In 2014, he won the 3rd prize at the prestigious international competition for composers Gudio d'Arezzo. In August 2015, Makor's piece entitled »Paisaje« was selected as part of the official programme for the ECCO (European Contemporary Composers Orchestra) for BBC Singers concert in collaboration with BASCA (British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors) in London. In April 2016, Makor was the finalist at »Young International Composers Competition - Chorus Austin« in Texas (USA). In May 2016, he won the 1st prize at the international composers competition in Barcelona. In September 2016 he won the 1st prize at the international competition for composers Gudio d'Arezzo.
As a composer, he works with several choirs, ensembles and musicians, among which the BBC Singers (GB), the BYU Singers (USA), the Salt Lake Vocal Artists (USA), the choir CODETTA (IRL), the Slovenian Philharmonic Choir, the Vokalna akademija Ljubljana (SI) and others. His compositions have also been performed at numerous competitions, festivals and seminars both in Slovenia and abroad (throughout Europe, in Great Britain, Ireland, Scotland, Japan, Russia, Philippines, Argentina, Cuba, the USA and so on).
