Biography

Ching-Mei Lin is a Taiwanese-born composer and pianist. In her music Lin incorporates innovative and international techniques that combine local dissonances with large-scale consonant structures, and pentatonic modality within a chromatic pitch language. Her works have been performed by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Taiwan Philharmonic, and the Aspen Contemporary Music Ensemble, among others. Lin has received numerous distinctions: including 1st Prize in the NACUSA Young Composers Competition and an ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award. She holds degrees in composition from the Eastman School of Music (MM) and the University of Michigan (DMA). She is Associate Professor of Music Theory and Composition at The Taipei National University of the Arts in Taiwan.
