Biography

After obtaining a scientific diploma, Claude LEDOUX studied painting at the Fine-Arts School, and music at the Royal conservatory of Liège, with Jean-Louis ROBERT, Philippe BOESMANS, Frederic RZEWSKI, Henri POUSSEUR and Patrick LENFANT. He then pursued his education abroad, with Gyorgy LIGETI, Franco DONATONI, Iannis Xenakis, and followed the courses in musical computing at the IRCAM, and analysis courses with Robert PIENCIKOWSKI. He travelled in several eastern countries in order to make researches and to learn the traditional art of music (1992, India; 1996, Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia, 2004, Japan).

As a composer he won several competitions in Lille, Paris, Lausanne, New York,...His music has been performed in many cities and festivals in Europe, in America, and Asia. He was composer in residence at the Ensemble Musiques Nouvelles, at the Castello of Umbria, at Bozar, and was invited as a guest professor in Brazil. He is now professor of Musical Analysis at the CNSM in Paris and teaches composition at the Conservatoire de Mons. Since january 2005, Claude Ledoux is member of the Belgian Royal Academy.
