Biography

The colourful compositions of Dutch composer/soprano/conductor Monique Krüs include opera, chamber music, art songs, works for choir and music and songs for broadcasting media. Much of her work contains educational elements. Monique Krüs studied classical voice at the Salzburg Mozarteum and was engaged for three years at the Operahouse of Essen(G). As a composer she is completely self-taught. Some highlights: God's Videotheque, her first opera (premiere 2007), Eine Odyssee, opera for/with adolescents for the Impuls Festival in Magdeburg and the Compulsory Work for the International Vocal Competition in Den Bosch. Anne & Zef, her youthopera about a.o. Anne Frank, premiered in 2015 in Amsterdam. March 2017 the opera was staged in Rome. Bielefeld(G) will see their ‘Anne und Zef’ premiere March 2018, performances in a.o. London and Budapest are coming up. For Valletta, Cultural Capital of Europe 2018, she will compose and conduct the opera 'Corto Maltese'.
