Biography

Ieva Klingenberga was born on September 17, 1986 in Riga, Latvia.

She studied Music theory and Composition at the Emīls Dārziņš College of Music (2002-2006). In 2006 she started her studies of Composition at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music with assoc. professor Andris Vecumnieks, accomplished her Bachelor’s degree in 2010. Ieva Klingenberga improved her knowledge of Composition at the Sibelius Academy, Helsinki in 2008. She studied there as a part of the Socrates/Erasmus student exchange programme with Lauri Kilpiö. Ieva accomplished her Master’s degree in Composition at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music in 2012 with prof.Rolands Kronlaks. In March, 2013 as a trainee during the Erasmus Student Placement programme in Trieste (Italy), she improved her knowledge of Audiovisual composition with prof. Paolo Pachini at the Conservatorio di Musica G.Tartini di Trieste. Currently she studies for the Master in Audiovisual composition (Composizione videomusicale) with prof. Paolo Pachini at the Conservatorio di Musica G.Tartini di Trieste (Italy).
Ieva Klingenberga has participated at the International Latvian Young Musicians’ Camp in Ogre (2004), the Donaueschinger Musiktage Workshops for students The Next Generation (2009, 2010, 2011) and the Workshop for students as a part of the Schwetzinger Festspiele (2010) in Germany. In 2012 she participated at The Latvia Project (March, 2012) – her piece “Der Schizophrene” was specialy composed for this project, which was performed by Swiss contemporary music ensemble UMS ‘n JIP. In April Ieva participated at the Nordplus IP Music Laboratory PROCESS 2012 in Vilnius, Lithuania and her piece “PROCESS” by Swedish percussion ensemble Evolution was performed there. In June she participated at the European Media Training workshop Summer MEDIA Studio in Juodkrante, Lithuania and composed the music for a short fiction film “Phobophobia”.She got the scholarship and was a listener of concerts and workshops of “Gaudeamus Music Week 2012” in Utrecht and an active participant at the “Matrix12 on Tour” in Warsaw. She is also a participant of 5-years long project “Fair opera” which is organized by Kulturverket in Umeå(Sweden) and in May 2013 she took a part of unique international opera workshop in Umeå as a part of their project.

Since 2012 Ieva Klingenberga is a member of the Latvian Composers Union.

Her music has also been performed at the contemporary music festival Latvian New Music Days in Riga (2010,2011, 2012) and in other concerts in Latvia. In 2013 her audiovisual work “Tanzerin” was selected for the final World Electroacoustic Listening Room Project and was a part of the 12th Annual CSUF New Music Festival: Voice in the 21st Century (at the Grand Central Arts Theater, an arts center in Santa Ana, that is part of Cal State Fullerton, USA). She always likes to take a part in many interesting projects and compose music in various different genres of music, mostly where`s music and other arts been combined.
