Biography

In 2011 Sabine Kezbere (b.1985 in Riga) received Master's Degree in Music in the composition class of Selga Mence at the Latvian Academy of Music. In 2009 she came to Oslo and studied composition with Peter Tornquist and Lasse Thoresen at the Norwegian Academy of Music where she became interested in use of spectromorphology to compose acoustic music.

Kezbere has achieved success at several composition competitions, collaborating with Latvian Radio Choir, being selected for Ung Nordisk Musikk festival (Copenhagen, 2011 and Reykjavík, 2012), the festival Arena (Riga, 2011), the ISCM World New Music Days (Bratislava, 2013). Her work for choir “The Dowry Song” was performed in the International Choral Competition Maribor (Slovenia, 2009) and the VIII Pärnu International Choir Festival (Estonia, 2010).

 

Sabine Kezbere is a member of the Latvian Composers’ Union. In 2011 she received the Tālivaldis Ķeniņš Award. Composer still lives in Norway.
