Biography

Matthew Kaner studied at King’s College London and at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with Julian Anderson, where he is now a member of professorial staff. He has composed works for the LSO, members of the BBCSO, London Sinfonietta and Philharmonia amongst others. His music has been performed at various venues in the UK and abroad, including Seiji Ozawa Hall, the Barbican, the Royal Festival Hall, Wigmore Hall, the Purcell Room, LSO St. Luke’s and Snape Maltings, and has featured in the Aldeburgh, Norfolk & Norwich, the City of London and Victoria International Arts Festivals. ! Matthew was the Margaret Lee Crofts Fellow in Composition at Tanglewood in 2012 and attended the Britten-Pears Contemporary Composition course in 2011. He was a winner of the Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Prize, a recipient of a London Sinfonietta Writing the Future chamber commission, and Composer-in-Association with the Workers Union in 2013.
