Hsieh, Annie Hui-Hsin - F - Australia

Born in Taiwan and raised between New Zealand and Australia, Annie’s
music explores the communicative nature of sound and its power to evoke
the deepest resonance from our shared human experiences. She seeks to
express this belief through the fabrication of multi-layered and slowlyevolving
timbral spaces, energised by the juxtapositions of carefullycurated
dramatic intensities.
Annie’s works have been commissioned and performed by groups
including Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra,
The Song Company, Syzygy Ensemble, Momenta Quartet, Arcko
Symphonic Ensemble, and The Arts Centre Melbourne.
Additionally, Annie’s music has been featured in festivals including
Metropolis New Music Festival, The Art Centre Melbourne 5X5X5 Project
(2013), The National Gallery of Victoria ‘Melbourne Now’ exhibition’ (2013-
2014) and Mise-en Festival (New York, 2014), and Opera Barga Festival
(Italy, 2015).
Annie is currently a doctoral student at the University of California, San
Diego, working with Lei Liang. Annie completed her bachelor’s (first-class
honours) and master’s degrees from University of Melbourne.
