Biography

Seunghee Hong was born in 1979 in Seoul, Korea. She received her Bachelor of Music from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea. She studied composition with Prof. Jiesun Lim at Yonsei University. After she decided to continue her studies in Japan, she has studied with Prof. Isao Matsushita at Tokyo National university of Arts, Tokyo, Japan.

Her works were awarded at Seoul Contemporary Music Festival for Chamber music in 2003, 06 and 13. In 2009, her piece, ‘Sound from a cave’ for Percussion Ensemble will be published by SHUN-KA-SHU-TOH who is one of most famous percussion ensemble group in Japan. ‘The Song of Blue Birds’ for 2 pianos is the Grand prize at the Composition Competition by the Korean Piano duo association in 2011. Her piece was performed at 30th Festival & Conference of the ACL(Tel aviv, Israel), and Concert for 2013 ACL-Korea(Seoul, Korea). Her piece, ‘Sa-seon-mu’ for Samul-nori and Orchestra was premiered at ‘Geidai Arts Special 2012’(Tokyo, Japan).
