Biography

Arturo S. Gervasoni
He was born on February 28, 1962 in La Falda, Córdoba, Argentina. He got his Degree in Music
Composition at the National University of Cordoba (Argentina). He studied musical composition
with Helmut Lachenmann, Luigi Nono, Tristan Murail, Philippe Manoury (IRCAM) and Peter
Eötvös in France. In 2004 he got the Masters in Musicology and in 2007 the Doctorate in
Musicology, both degrees given by the University of Rennes 2.
His output includes chamber music, orchestral, vocal and electroacoustic music and music for
theater and dance.
His works have been performed, recorded and broadcast in many countries: USA, Mexico,
Argentina, France, UK...
His music focuses on the investigation of sound stimuli, either by strength or character. His works,
with a sequential approach can sometimes be discursive.
Many of his pieces are inspired by the philosophy and literature of authors such as J. L. Borges, A.
Manguel, A. Danto.
