Biography

Since the age of 4, I started to play the piano and music has been the main focus of my studies. At age 12 I was admitted by Sichuan Conservatory of Music.  From middle school to undergraduate, i majored in composition. When i was pursuing my master degree, my focus was on Composition and Theory.

I remain passionate about playing the piano, and continue to accompany and perform chamber music often, including as a member of a piano trio. In 2009, I have been appointed to the faculty of the Sichuan Conservatory.

Certain factors have influenced my musical development.  I have been raised in remote west China, near the border of Tibet. When I was young, China’s far west was not the China of rapid economic growth and modern western influence. As a result, I am immersed in China’s folk music, and I base my compositions on elements of Chinese folk music and melodies.
