Deriga, Yigit 

 
 

 

Biography

Mr. Deriga was born in Izmir, Turkey in 1988. He graduated from Dokuz Eylul University Education Faculty, Music Education Department in 2009 and has been working, as a music teacher, in a German School (TAKEV) since then. In his compositions, he utilizes contemporary and traditional materials simultaneously. Yigit Deriga was the winner of ‘’Peace on the 100th anniversary of WW1" Competition in 2015 and the award was given by the Republic of Turkey. This winning composition has been performed by several symphonic orchestras in Turkey. He also became a Finalist in ‘’The Marvin Hamlisch Film Scoring Contest’’ 2017 and was invited to New York City to work on a new project to develop his compositional skills. He is currently working toward an M.A. degree in Composition studying with Onur Nurcan at Dokuz Eylul University State Conservatory, in Izmir-Turkey.
