Biography

François de Villiers studied harmony with Marianne Feenstra, counterpoint with John Coulter, percussion with Jon Wishnuff and orchestration and conducting with Prof Walter Mony, and obtained a Licentiate in Harmony. He had individual composition lessons (briefly) with Martijn Padding, Theo Loevendie, Robert Rollins and Kevin Volans. He has composed sporadically since 1998. His works include two song cycles (When will I see you again, and Tales from Mpondoland), four works for piano, a sonata for marimba and viola, two orchestral works and several other works for chamber instruments. He has retired from his day job, and now lives in Plettenberg Bay.
