Biography

Dana Cristina Probst was born in Bucharest, Romania in 1961 and, since 1993 lives as a freelance composer and piano, compositition and music theory teacher in Vienna, Austria. She studied composition with Anatol Vieru at the UNMB (The National University of Music Bucharest) and with Michael Jarrell at the mdw. From 1990 to 1996 she was Assistant Professor at the UNMB. She received various prizes and awards including an ÖAD-Scholarship (1994-1995), the 2nd Prize of the International Composition Contest Aperto (1999), many awards from the Austrian Ministry of Arts, Culture and Education (2012, 2013, 2015, 2016) and, in 2017, the Austrian State Scholarship. Her works are regularly performed and broadcasted in Austria, Romania, Germany, France, Finland, Danemark, Great Britain, Italy and in the United States of America.
