Biography

Marcel Chyrzyński obtained his Master's degree (with distinction) from the Academy of Music in Krakow, where he studied composition under Marek Stachowski, instrumentation under Krzysztof Penderecki and computer music under Marek Chołoniewski, Richard Boulanger, Cindy McTee and Rodney Oaks. Since 2010 he has been an Assistant Professor at the Academy of Music in Krakow.
Chyrzyński perfected his skills during numerous courses under tutelage of Paul Paterson, Sylvano Bussotti, Claude Lefebvre, Joji Yuasa, Bogusław Schaeffer, Lidia Zielińska and Hanna Kulenty.
His interests are focused in acoustic, electro-acoustic and electronic music. He also composes music for theater performances.
His works were performed in most of the European countries, as well as in South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, USA and Canada.
Among many other awards, Chyrzyński was top-prized in Andrzej Krzanowski Competition for Young Composers in Bielsko-Biała (twice), All-Polish Adam Didur Composers' Competition in Sanok, and Tadeusz Baird Composition Competition for Young Composers in Warsaw.
