Cheng, Anthony - M - Hong Kong 

 
 

 

Biography

Dr. Cheng Yu-­‐sum, Anthony was born in Hong Kong. Cheng takes up classical piano at the age of 12 to start his life-long relationship with music since then. After graduation from the University of Hong Kong, Cheng moves to London to study composition with Sir Harrison Birtwistle and Silvina Milstein at King’s College, London and orchestral conducting with Denise Ham at Royal Academy of Music. Cheng returns to Hong Kong to conduct a Ph.D. research on chamber opera. The following year, he establishes his music production house and starts his music career as a composer, sound engineer and producer. Cheng produces vastly for TV commercials, film scoring, musicals, pop songs, music for multi-media projects and CD productions for various recording labels.

Cheng is currently teaching electronic music at Hong Kong Baptist University (M.A. in music), Chinese University of Hong Kong (Advanced Diploma in Music Composition) and Kingston University, UK (B.Mus.).
